Disclosure: we make Illumea, one of the tools below. We've tried to be fair: every tool, including ours, gets a "best for" and a "watch out for".

The short answer

  • Best for B2B lead quality and turning conversations into business intelligence: Illumea
  • Best for support-heavy teams: Intercom Fin
  • Best low-cost, quick-to-set-up chatbot: Chatbase or Hyperleap
  • Best for small businesses that want live chat plus AI: Tidio
  • Best if you already run on HubSpot: HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent
  • Best for enterprise sales teams already on Salesloft: Drift

How we compared them

A B2B website chatbot has two jobs: answer questions accurately from your own content, and help sales find the visitors who are actually ready to buy. We compared each tool on:

  1. Answers from your content: does it answer from your website and documents, and stay on topic?
  2. Lead capture: can it collect contact details, and can it block free or throwaway email addresses?
  3. Buying signals: does it tell you which conversations show real purchase intent, or do you read every chat yourself?
  4. CRM sync: do leads reach Salesforce or HubSpot automatically?
  5. Traffic quality: can it tell you which ad channels send real buyers and which send low-quality traffic?
  6. Intelligence: does it tell you anything beyond the chat log: what buyers want, where your content falls short, how you compare with competitors?
  7. Real monthly cost: the plan price plus usage charges (credits, per-resolution fees, AI conversations).

Why intelligence matters more than the chat itself

Most chatbots are judged on how many questions they answer. But every conversation is also something rarer: a buyer telling you, in their own words, what they need, what confuses them and what nearly stopped them from getting in touch. Surveys and analytics tools can't give you that.

Most chatbot tools leave it sitting in a chat log nobody has time to read. The useful question is what the tool does with those conversations:

  • Chat log only: you can read transcripts and see message counts.
  • Basic analytics: volumes, ratings, maybe a list of top questions.
  • Business intelligence: the tool reads every conversation for you and tells you what to change on your website, in your messaging and in your marketing, and which visitors and channels are worth your sales team's time.

For B2B companies, where one good lead can be worth more than a year of chatbot fees, that last level is where the return comes from.

The tools in detail

Illumea

Illumea is an AI website assistant built for B2B companies that get traffic but too few enquiries. It answers from your website and documents only. What sets it apart is what happens next: it reads every conversation and turns it into intelligence for marketing, sales and product teams.

The intelligence layer:

  • Monthly Intelligence Report: an AI analysis of your visitors' conversations, covering what buyers are looking for, the objections and confusion holding them back, how you compare with the competitors they mention, and specific recommendations for your website and messaging.
  • Illumea Pulse: turns patterns in visitor questions into concrete messaging and page suggestions, then tracks whether the change worked.
  • Content gaps: questions your website couldn't answer, and answers that have gone out of date, so you know exactly which pages to write or fix.
  • Buying signals: each whole conversation is scored for purchase intent, so sales sees the few visitors who are ready to talk, with alerts and a Leads list.
  • Traffic Source Quality: which ad channels, campaigns and placements send real buyers, and which send low-quality traffic you're paying for.
  • Monthly analytics report: top questions, sentiment, unanswered queries and feedback, emailed to you every month.
  • Other strengths:
    • Leads sync to Salesforce or HubSpot automatically
    • Optional work-email requirement on the lead form, so free and disposable emails don't get through
    • Spam and off-topic filtering, so low-quality messages don't cost you AI usage or skew your numbers
    • INR pricing and WhatsApp handoff on every plan, which suit Indian B2B companies
  • Watch out for: a younger product with fewer native integrations than Intercom or HubSpot. AI usage is billed at cost on top of the plan, so very high-volume sites should estimate usage first. Voice AI is still in beta.
  • Price: Starter ₹3,800/mo, Growth ₹15,499/mo, Scale ₹25,499/mo, Enterprise custom. Starter includes a snapshot of the Intelligence Report and buying signals; the full reports, Pulse and Traffic Source Quality come with Growth. 14-day free trial on Starter, no card required.

What this looks like in practice: a specialty-chemicals manufacturer running Google Ads found that nearly three in four chat messages were spam or off-topic. Much of it came from display ads shown in children's apps and mobile games. Illumea filtered those messages out before they reached the AI, and the traffic-quality view showed which placements to exclude, so the ad budget could move to channels that send real buyers.

Chatbase

Chatbase is one of the best-known tools for building an AI chatbot trained on your own content, and it's quick to set up.

  • Strengths: simple setup, wide choice of AI models, a free plan to try it out.
  • Watch out for: priced in message credits, which can run out faster than expected with longer answers or stronger models. Removing "Powered by Chatbase" branding is a $99/mo add-on. Lead qualification is basic.
  • Price: Hobby $40/mo, Basic $150/mo, Business $500/mo (20% off yearly). Extra credits $40 per 1,000.

Intercom Fin

Fin is Intercom's AI agent. It's strong at resolving support questions and sits inside a full help desk.

  • Strengths: high-quality support answers, mature help desk, large integration ecosystem. Fin can also run on top of Zendesk, Salesforce or Freshdesk.
  • Watch out for: you pay per seat and $0.99 per outcome, so costs grow with volume. Built support-first; lead qualification is secondary.
  • Price: help desk $29, $85 or $132 per seat/mo (annual), plus Fin at $0.99 per outcome.

Tidio

Tidio combines live chat, a help desk, rule-based Flows and an AI agent called Lyro. It's popular with small and e-commerce businesses.

  • Strengths: affordable entry price, easy live chat, a free plan.
  • Watch out for: Lyro AI conversations are priced separately from the base plan, so the real cost is higher than the headline price. Lead qualification relies mostly on Flows you build yourself.
  • Price: Starter from $24.17/mo (annual), with Lyro AI conversations added on top.

HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent

HubSpot's AI agent answers visitor questions inside HubSpot, so conversations and contacts land directly in your CRM.

  • Strengths: no integration work if you already use HubSpot; contacts and conversations sit next to your deals.
  • Watch out for: needs a paid HubSpot plan, and it's billed in HubSpot credits (about $0.50 per resolved conversation since April 2026). If you don't use HubSpot, it isn't the right fit.
  • Price: HubSpot plan plus credits. Check which plans include the Customer Agent.

Drift (Salesloft)

Drift popularised "conversational marketing" for B2B sales teams and is now part of Salesloft.

  • Strengths: built for enterprise sales: account-based routing, meeting booking, deep sales-tool integrations.
  • Watch out for: no public pricing. Reported prices start around $2,500/mo on annual contracts, with AI features on higher tiers. Best value only if you already use Salesloft.
  • Price: by quote.

Hyperleap

Hyperleap is an AI front desk for small businesses, with simple per-response pricing and a strong focus on WhatsApp and website chat.

  • Strengths: clear pricing, 7-day free trial, managed setup offered.
  • Watch out for: aimed at small businesses; limited B2B lead scoring and traffic-quality insight.
  • Price: Plus $40/mo (3,000 AI responses), Pro $100/mo, Max $200/mo.

How to choose

  • You mainly need support deflection: Intercom Fin, or HubSpot if you live in HubSpot.
  • You want something cheap and quick to try: Chatbase, Hyperleap or Tidio.
  • You run paid ads and your problem is lead quality, not lead volume: Illumea, because it tells you which conversations are real buyers and which channels send them.
  • You want your website conversations to inform marketing and product decisions: Illumea, for its monthly Intelligence Reports and Pulse.
  • You're an enterprise sales team on Salesloft: Drift.

Before you decide, work out the real monthly cost: plan price plus credits, per-outcome fees or AI usage at your expected traffic. Headline prices rarely match the bill.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI chatbot for B2B lead generation?

It depends on your bottleneck. If you need more answers handled, pick a support-first tool like Intercom Fin. If you get plenty of traffic but too few good leads, pick a tool that detects buying signals across the whole conversation and syncs leads to your CRM, such as Illumea.

Which AI chatbot gives the most insight from conversations?

Most chatbots give you transcripts and basic analytics such as message volumes and top questions. Illumea goes further: a monthly AI Intelligence Report on what buyers want, their objections and the competitors they mention; Pulse suggestions for messaging and pages; content gaps; buying signals; and which traffic sources send real buyers.

Can an AI chatbot block personal email addresses on lead forms?

Some can. Illumea has a per-bot "require work email" setting that blocks free providers like Gmail and disposable email addresses. Most general chatbot builders need a custom form or integration to do this.

How much does an AI website chatbot cost in 2026?

Entry plans range from about $25 to $40 a month for small-business tools, to a few hundred a month for B2B platforms, to $2,500+ a month for enterprise conversational-marketing tools. Usage charges (credits, per-resolution fees or AI usage) often add significantly to the plan price.

Do AI chatbots work for Indian B2B companies?

Yes. Look for INR pricing, WhatsApp handoff (since many Indian buyers prefer it to email) and CRM sync. Illumea is priced in INR and includes WhatsApp handoff on every plan.
